A US regulator released a report blaming the Freeport LNG explosion on inadequate processes. The June blast at the Texas Gulf Coast plant, the second-largest in the US, previously contributed to global LNG price spikes.
The report bears on when Freeport can safely resume, which affects how much US LNG export capacity returns and thus global gas supply tightness.
