Malaysian palm oil futures closed 0.76% lower on Friday at 4,203 ringgit a tonne but posted a third straight weekly gain, near a seven-week high. Traders cited tight global supply from Indonesia's restrictive export policies and improving demand from India and China.
Refinitiv said floods would hit western Indonesia and Malaysia, with significant crop damage expected in Malaysia.
Flood damage to Malaysian and Indonesian palm output, combined with Indonesian export curbs, tightens the global vegetable oil supply and supports prices. Feed buyers should expect higher costs for palm-based fats and possibly firmer soyoil.
