French government estimates show winter oilseed rape sowing up 9.0% on the year to 1.29 million hectares, 10.9% above the 2018-2022 average. Total winter cereal area is 6.76 million hectares, up 1.8%, with soft wheat up 2.0% and barley up 3.7%, while hard wheat fell 4.8%.
Larger French winter cereal and rapeseed areas point to more European supply for the 2023 harvest, a mild bearish factor for wheat and oilseed prices.
