Nearly 60 ag organizations, including AFBF and NCGA, are pushing for permanent reductions of tariffs on Moroccan fertilizer after Commerce cut duties from 19.97% to 2.12% in September 2023. The groups say the cut was retroactive and that OCP has halted shipments of nearly all its products to the US.
Lower or uncertain tariffs on Moroccan phosphate affect US import availability and DAP/MAP cost, which feeds into feed phosphate and crop input costs. Continued uncertainty keeps US phosphate supply tight and prices elevated.
