AgWeb reported that HPAI is cutting into poultry sales, the largest demand driver for corn and soybean meal, after President Trump called egg prices out of control. The US poultry industry has lost nearly 28 million layers to depopulation in early 2025, and about 156 million birds have been lost since 2022.
USDA has announced a $1 billion mitigation program.
Fewer layers reduce demand for corn and soybean meal from poultry feed mills, which weighs on grain prices. A recovery in production would support feed demand.
