Brazil's soybean harvest was about 16% complete, with reports of poor seed quality in Mato Grosso after excessive rain. Up to 30% of beans being harvested were moldy, broken, shriveled or high in moisture, and some elevators reportedly refused them.
Dryness in Argentina added to concerns, and the Mato Grosso Institute of Agriculture was considering a lower production estimate.
Quality losses and possible production cuts in Brazil, plus Argentine dryness, reduce available export supply and support soybean and meal prices.
