QatarEnergy suspended LNG production after Iranian drones struck the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed sites on March 2 and declared force majeure. At least 150 vessels, including LNG carriers, have anchored in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters.
Qatar supplies about 20 percent of world LNG, so the halt and shipping backlog force importers to scramble for other gas, driving prices higher.
