FranceAgriMer reported that 83% of French soft wheat was rated good or excellent as of April 20, down from 84% a week earlier but above 74% a year ago. Maize planting was ahead of the usual pace amid a dry spell in the EU's largest grain producer.
Stable-to-good French crop ratings are mildly bearish for European wheat, while dry conditions and fast maize planting bear watching for emerging moisture stress.
