The Australian Department of Agriculture's weekly update reports low-pressure systems brought 10-50 mm of rain to eastern and central cropping areas in the week to 20 May 2026, while Western Australia and northern Queensland stayed dry. Rain is forecast for parts of the south-east and west over the following eight days.
The update also notes USDA revised global grain production upward in April.
Timely moisture in the south-east supports the Australian crop, while dryness in Western Australia and northern Queensland could cut yields and tighten supply. The upward global revision is mildly bearish for grain prices.
