FranceAgriMer ratings showed French soft wheat at 81% good or excellent as of April 27, down from 83% a week earlier, after a dry spell. Winter barley, spring barley and durum conditions also declined, and maize planting was ahead of last year.
Falling French crop ratings during dry weather point to yield risk, which supports wheat and barley prices. The rating is still above year-ago levels, which limits the upside.
