Statistics Canada estimates Canadian oat plantings at 2.55 million acres, down 15% from last year. A carryout of about 800,000 tonnes from last year's large harvest will offset part of the acreage drop, and the crop looks good.
Tighter 2026-27 supply is partly cushioned by carryover and a good crop, so buyers should expect firm but not sharply higher oat prices.
