US soybean oil imports rose to 33 thousand tons in July from 13 thousand a year earlier, with season-to-date imports at 170 thousand tons. Total imports of 17 oil and fat types hit a record 1.06 million tons in July, and the USDA-based outlook projects 7.9 million tons of soybean oil used for biofuel in 2026/27.
Rising reliance on imported vegetable oils to meet biofuel demand supports world vegoil prices and tightens domestic balances. This is mildly bullish for palm and rapeseed oil and for soybean oil, though domestic prices are above world levels.
