Idaho recorded 40 confirmed HPAI cases in dairy herds in the 30 days to June 29, with eight new dairy cases and a Canyon County poultry farm losing 3,000 birds in the week of June 22-28. Across the US, only five other cases occurred in the past month, in Utah and Texas.
The state veterinarian described the outbreak as surging.
