The EPA issued a final Renewable Fuel Standard rule in the Federal Register that modifies the 2020 to 2022 volume targets for cellulosic, advanced, and total renewable fuel, and sets the 2022 biomass-based diesel target. It also establishes percentage standards for 2020, 2021, and 2022 across the four biofuel categories.
The rule responds to a judicial remand of the 2016 standard.
Binding volume targets create guaranteed demand for biodiesel and renewable diesel feedstocks, which tightens soybean oil supply and supports its price.
