Argentina's soybean harvest came in about 300,000 tonnes above forecast, with 93.2% of the crop reported harvested. Wheat planting in Buenos Aires province lagged sharply, with only 20% of the forecast area sown after excessive May rain.
The Rosario exchange estimated the wheat harvest at 18 million tonnes, the lowest planting area in 12 years, after drought and La Niña.
A larger soybean crop adds export supply, which is bearish for soy products, while a small wheat area and drought-hit crop support wheat prices and feed grain substitution demand.
