Soybeans in west-central Brazil and Tocantins planted after November 1 will not leave enough time for safrinha corn within the ideal window. Soybean planting is the slowest since 2009.
Low domestic corn prices also discourage farmers from planting safrinha corn.
Late planting and low prices could reduce the safrinha corn crop, though larger planted area and new equipment partly offset this. The net effect on corn supply and prices is uncertain.
