The safrinha corn harvest has started in southwestern Goiás, with about 1% of the 1.1 million hectares cooperative area harvested. Early yields in the most favored areas are around 7,200 kg/ha, but the dry spell during crop development is expected to limit the state's potential.
Lower Goiás yields reduce domestic corn supply in Brazil's Center-South, which can support corn and feed-grain prices and raise demand for substitutes.
