Late-season heat in September, with temperatures 4 to 8 degrees F above normal in parts of the Western Corn Belt, sped crop drying and reduced yields. NASS October estimates for Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri came in several bushels per acre below earlier months.
Lower yield estimates tighten the corn balance sheet, which is supportive for corn prices and feed costs.
