The central parity rate for the yuan weakened 54 basis points to 6.6579 per US dollar on Friday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. The yuan is permitted to trade within 2 percent of the central parity each day.
A weaker yuan fixing raises the local-currency cost of dollar-priced feed imports for China, a modest headwind for import demand. The move is small and routine.
