July corn futures settled 8 1/4 cents lower at $6.29 3/4 and December fell 6 3/4 cents to $5.17, down 11% on the week and the lowest close since May 25. Wetter, milder Midwest weather is providing near-ideal conditions for pollination.
USDA's July 12 report is expected to cut 2020-21 corn stocks to 1.008 billion bushels and raise 2021-22 ending stocks to 1.402 billion.
Benign weather during pollination lowers the yield risk premium, and expected higher new-crop carryout points to ample supply, which pressures corn prices. Soybeans are also under pressure, though they were supported by export demand expectations.
