Chicago wheat futures rose to a three-week high of $5.45 a bushel on Friday as traders assessed reports of Chinese purchases of U.S. wheat. Exporters had sold at least two cargoes of hard red winter wheat and two of soybeans to Chinese buyers, and talk of broader Chinese buying lifted corn and soybeans.
Chinese purchases of U.S. wheat, corn and soybeans increase export demand and tighten U.S. supplies, supporting prices. Corn also tracked crude oil, which adds an energy-linked influence.
