Malaysia will work with Indonesia to challenge a European Parliament resolution on sustainable palm oil, according to a Malaysian minister. Malaysia says the resolution would hurt palm oil imports into the EU and the economies of producing nations.
The resolution also proposes labelling for sustainably produced palm oil.
A joint producer challenge raises the chance of a trade dispute that could delay EU restrictions. Any delay supports palm oil demand in the near term.
