U.S. fuel ethanol exports rose 26% in 2016 to over 1 billion gallons, the second-highest level on record, with Brazil overtaking Canada as the top destination at 267 million gallons. U.S. ethanol production hit a record 15 billion gallons, and imports fell 60%.
Strong export demand supports record ethanol output and corn grind, and it also lifts DDGS supply that competes with soybean meal in feed rations.
