Indonesia and Malaysia will send a joint mission to the EU to prevent implementation of the European Parliament's call to phase out vegetable-oil biofuels by 2020. The Parliament resolution also calls for a single certification scheme for sustainable palm oil.
If the phase-out is blocked, palm oil biofuel demand in Europe is preserved; if it proceeds, EU palm demand falls, which is bearish for prices.
