The ABARES quarterly Crop Report says Australia's national winter grain harvest will be about 40% smaller than last year, with drought, a late season start and high temperatures blamed. Wheat is down 38%, barley 40%, canola 33% and chickpeas about 36%.
The sharp Australian crop decline reduces exportable barley and wheat supply, which supports feed grain prices in import markets.
