An IATP commentary examines US proposals to export its non-regulatory approach to genetically engineered crops into a NAFTA 2.0 mutual recognition agreement. It argues Mexico and Canada would have to accept US biotech 'no issues' letters as valid.
If adopted, a mutual recognition provision could ease US biotech corn and other crop exports into Mexico, but the proposal is still under negotiation and has no immediate price effect.
