Kansas State's Agronomy eUpdate says a weak La Niña is present and is expected to peak and then weaken into spring. Historically La Niña is strongly associated with drier-than-normal weather, and only two of 15 past La Niña events brought above-normal Kansas precipitation in February through April.
A drier-than-normal spring in Kansas raises the risk to hard red winter wheat and early corn planting, which can support prices for feed grains.
