Talk of new tariffs extends flight to haven currencies, sparking yen and dollar rally

The yen and dollar rallied on Tuesday as Trump threatened new tariffs on up to $400 billion of Chinese goods on top of $50 billion already announced. Beijing said it would take comprehensive countermeasures, and the Australian dollar fell to a one-year low.
