Malaysian Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok said the government will intervene if biofuel and palm oil prices rise sharply, possibly by cutting the biodiesel blend as Indonesia has done. She said the current gap between biodiesel and diesel prices is under one sen per litre.
A possible blend cut would reduce domestic palm biodiesel demand and cap palm oil price increases, a bearish factor for palm oil if prices rally.
