The International Gas Union released its 2019 Wholesale Gas Price Survey, its eleventh in the series. Gas-on-gas competition rose to 47% of wholesale pricing, and spot LNG reached just over 30% of LNG imports in 2018.
The survey points to a continued shift away from oil-linked pricing.
A growing share of spot and hub-priced LNG increases the link between gas prices and global LNG flows. This structural shift affects how traders and industrial buyers price gas exposure.
