The dollar surged to a seven-month high against a major currency basket as investors raised bets on a Federal Reserve rate hike in December. Ten-year US Treasury yields rose to a more than four-month high after solid US economic data.
The dollar also climbed against the yen and the pound fell sharply.
A stronger dollar makes US-priced grains, meal and oilseeds more expensive for foreign buyers, which can pressure export demand and prices. Higher US rates also raise financing costs for holding commodity inventories.
