Rabobank predicts Australia's 2019/20 winter crop at 27.7 million tonnes, the smallest since 2007/08 and 31 percent below the five-year average. Wheat is forecast at 15.84 million tonnes and barley at 7.71 million tonnes, with Queensland yields down more than 30 percent.
A drought-driven shortfall of this size would tighten Australian export supplies and firm global feed grain and wheat prices.
