The WMO's February 2020 update says tropical Pacific sea surface temperatures have been ENSO-neutral since July 2019. Temperatures have intermittently warmed toward El Niño thresholds since October, but most key atmospheric indicators have stayed neutral.
Neutral conditions point to a less disruptive growing season for South American and Asian crops, which keeps weather-driven upside in grains and oilseeds limited.
