The European Commission raised the automatic import duty on maize, sorghum and rye from €5.27 to €10.40 per tonne. The increase follows low maize prices and abundant world supply, with the US cif Rotterdam price at €146.63 per tonne.
A higher duty makes US and other third-country maize and sorghum less competitive in the EU, which weighs on US export demand and prices for these feed grains.
