The September 2022 Class IV milk price was $24.63 per cwt, while the Class III price was $19.82, a $4.81 gap that is the widest since November 2020. Class III fell 28 cents from August, and Class IV fell 18 cents.

The wide Class III and IV spread encourages Class IV depooling and shifts how milk value is distributed across uses. Lower Class III prices point to softer cheese-based demand.
