The European Commission's MARS report says winter cereal sowing is almost complete across Europe thanks to better November weather. Rapeseed sowing was hit by drought in key producing countries, and the area is expected to be well below last year and the five-year average.
A smaller EU rapeseed area points to lower oilseed meal supply next year, which supports canola meal prices. Wheat is largely unaffected because winter cereal plantings are on track.
