USDA announced the February 2021 Federal order Class III benchmark milk price at $15.75 per hundredweight, down 29 cents from January. The Class IV price fell to $13.19, and USDA trimmed its 2021 milk production estimate slightly while raising its Class III price forecast.
Lower benchmark milk prices reduce dairy producer income and can curb herd expansion, which trims future demand for feed ingredients such as DDGS and soymeal from dairy rations.
