Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Louvain evaluated over 1,000 policy proposals for reducing EU-linked tropical deforestation. They found broad support for some measures, while stricter import restrictions had weaker support.
The study signals which EU measures on palm oil, soybeans and beef imports are politically feasible, giving a sense of the likely direction of future feed-ingredient trade rules. Any binding outcome is still years away, so price impact is limited.
