USDA reported it has processed more than 255,000 applications for the new Emergency Relief Program and has paid about $6.1 billion to commodity and specialty crop producers for eligible losses from 2020 and 2021 natural disasters. The agency says pre-filled applications and data sharing across USDA cut producer paperwork substantially.
Direct disaster payments support producer cash flow and can sustain herd and crop retention, but the payments are administrative news with no meaningful immediate effect on feed commodity supply or prices.
