U.S. trade consultations with Mexico over its GMO corn rule have been called an unacceptable violation of law by a Mexican official. Mexico kept its plan to prohibit GMO corn for human consumption, including flour, dough and tortillas, while dropping a full ban that covered animal feed and industrial use.
The retained restriction on food-use GMO corn keeps a meaningful share of U.S. white corn export demand at risk, which is mildly bearish for U.S. corn prices.
