From 30 December 2024, EU rules will require products to come from land not deforested after 31 December 2020, comply with producer-country law, and carry a due diligence statement. The regulation covers cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood, with traceability required across the supply chain.
Upstream and downstream traceability requirements could reduce EU-bound palm oil and soy volumes or raise their costs, which tends to pressure prices for these commodities in origin markets.
