Retail egg prices have risen about 28% over the past year, with a dozen large Grade A eggs averaging $3.20 in August according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Reduced laying-hen supply from HPAI combined with higher consumer demand keeps egg prices elevated, and holiday baking demand could push them higher still. Feed buyers may see weaker layer flock sizes and lower demand for layer feed as producers depopulate birds.
