Soybean futures fell on March 31 after USDA's Prospective Plantings report showed 83.495 million acres intended for soybeans, a 3.555 million acre drop from last year and within trade expectations. March 1 stocks were slightly above estimates, and weekly export inspections showed China as the top destination despite tariffs.
A smaller US soybean acreage is bearish for new-crop supply expectations, but the market sold off as a sell-the-fact reaction, leaving prices pressured.
