The EU Joint Research Centre's MARS bulletin reports hot, dry weather across southern and eastern Europe that caused irreversible yield damage in rainfed areas of Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, southern Ukraine and Türkiye. Maize, sunflower and soybean yields were also reduced in Hungary and eastern Croatia, while Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Poland held near or above average.
Losses in maize and sunflower output across southeastern Europe and the Black Sea reduce feed and oilseed meal supplies, supporting corn and sunflower meal prices.
