The FAO Cereal Price Index rose 2.9 points to 114.3 in May, up 2.6% month on month, with higher prices across all major cereals. Wheat rose for a fourth straight month on smaller expected harvests in major exporters, while maize was supported by strong import demand and tighter supplies in Brazil and the US.
Rising global cereal benchmarks support feed grain costs for buyers and point to firmer corn, wheat, sorghum and barley prices in the near term.
