The Wall Street Journal reports that EPA's proposal to mandate less biomass-based diesel through 2025 has stalled the soybean oil market. Soybean oil futures fell more than 15% in one week after the December proposal, and about 44% of US soybean oil output is expected to go to biofuels.
Reduced biofuel mandates cut the expected use of soybean oil, which lowers oil prices and weakens the value share of oil in the soybean crush.
