Above-normal temperatures and very little rain from late September through October let corn and soybean harvests advance quickly across most of the Corn Belt. Yields were highly variable, with parts of Iowa, Illinois and the eastern Corn Belt strong while southern Minnesota had some of its lowest yields in two decades.
Fast harvest progress and mixed yields leave the national crop roughly on track, so the price effect is mostly limited to regional supply differences.
