The August WASDE surprised markets with a smaller corn acreage decline than pre-report estimates, and CBOT December corn fell 24.4 cents to a low of $3.706 per bushel. USDA raised its ending stocks estimate by 8.5%, to 2,181 million bushels, and lifted its wheat yield to 51.6 bushels per acre.
KC HRW wheat fell 24.8 cents on Monday before partly recovering.
The larger-than-expected corn supply and higher stocks outlook pressure corn and wheat prices. Feed buyers face lower corn costs, while the market watches export sales for support.
