FERC published a favorable draft environmental impact statement for Transco's Northeast Supply Enhancement Project, which would add 400,000 Dth/d for New York City-area customers. FERC staff concluded that impacts would be reduced to less-than-significant levels with mitigation, and comments are accepted through May 14.
The project adds pipeline capacity to a constrained Northeast market, which could ease regional gas price spikes over time. The approval step has little immediate effect on prices.
