Industrial Info reports that the EPA has granted Renewable Fuel Standard hardship waivers to several small refineries, and the National Biodiesel Board has urged the president to halt them. The biodiesel industry also faces debate over the future of its tax credit.
The article notes more than $7.7 billion in active U.S. biodiesel capital projects.
Uncertainty over waivers and the tax credit could reduce biodiesel margins and blending demand for soybean oil. This is a modest bearish influence on the oil complex.
